Deacon Bill Lacombe passed away at the age of 59 on January 11, 2022. Bill is survived by his wife Wendy, 5 children Paul, Meg (Chase), Gabe (Courtney), Tess and Ellie, parents, Bob and Lee Lacombe, 2 brothers Rob (Nancy), Mike (Eileen), one sister, Suzanne (Ian), nieces Catie, Claire and Emily, and nephew Bertie.\nBorn in Chattanooga, Tennessee and growing up in Corning, New York, Deacon Bill graduated from East High School and attended St. Leo College, in St. Leo, FL where he received a bachelor's degree in religion. He attended University of South Carolina where he earned a Master of Arts in Teaching, and Masters of Elementary School Administration. He later earned a Masters of Theology from St. Leo University.\nDeacon met his wife Wendy at St. Leo College and they were married in 1991. Bill always had a heart for the church and a desire to serve others. He discerned a call to the diaconate and was ordained a permanent deacon in 2002. He has served the parishes of St. Anthony and St. James in Walterboro, South Carolina with the majority of his ministry at St. Peter Church in Beaufort, South Carolina.\nBill began his teaching career in Hampton County District 1. He was the Director of Religious Education and a teacher at St. Peter Catholic School. He taught at Robert Smalls International Academy, with Ridgeland Elementary School as his current teaching position.\nPaul, Meg, Gabe, Tess and Ellie were blessed with the best Dad ever. Wendy, was blessed with a husband who was her best friend and partner. Every day, each child knew their Dad loved and cherished them. He loved to share his faith and his love of history. Many family vacations were spent with Bill, the enthusiastic tour guide, leading the Lacombe clan around obscure museums and historical sites. Sundays were spent as a family at mass and spending time as a family.\nHis family and friends will miss the joyful, big-hearted man with booming voice, and gentle, generous spirit.
