IN LOVING MEMORY OF WENDY (NEE RAINWATER) REYNOLDS
OCTOBER 11, 1946 – MAY 14, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and boundless love that we share the passing of Wendy Reynolds, who left this world on May 14, 2025, in the town of Beaufort, South Carolina. After an almost three-year battle with cancer—one she faced with unwavering grace, courage, and quiet strength—Wendy has found rest. While we are heartbroken to lose her, we find comfort in believing that Heaven has gained another angel.
Born on October 11, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Wendy carried with her throughout life the warmth of her roots. She married the love of her life, David (Boyd) Reynolds, on May 19, 1967, and together they built a life grounded in devotion and love. They welcomed their daughter, Jennifer Reynolds Larivee, in 1969, the same year Wendy earned her degree in fine arts from the University of California, Irvine—a true testament to her dedication both as a mother and an artist.
Wendy spent much of her life in Andover, Massachusetts, where she made her mark as a respected interior designer. Her taste was timeless, her eye for beauty keen. Her work was not only admired but also published in esteemed design magazines like Traditional Home. She had the gift of transforming spaces—and hearts.
Upon retirement, Wendy and Boyd made a home in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, building a beautiful house along what she lovingly referred to as “her river.” There, her light continued to shine—welcoming friends, hosting parties, and building new bonds within their community and St. Helena’s Anglican Church.
Throughout her life, Wendy's gift could be summed up in one word: beauty. Not just the kind people see, but the kind people feel. She always showed up in impeccable style, with an attention to detail that never went unnoticed. She created magical holidays, filled with decorations, delicious homecooked meals, and the kind of love that lingers long after the dishes are done. She was thoughtful beyond words, often sending personalized cards or small keepsakes to remind people they mattered. She carried with her a quiet strength, a deep compassion, and a joy for celebrating the little things in life.
Wendy was an artist through and through. From painting and drawing to writing and illustrating a book for her cherished granddaughter, Annabelle, her creativity knew no bounds. She sewed clothes, designed Halloween costumes, handmade invitations, quilted, and was an expert needle pointer. She also channeled her artistry into the kitchen, baking her famous pies—made for family, friends, and those in need within her church.
Wendy selflessly gave her time and heart. She was a generous supporter of Heifer International, and through her church and neighborhood community, she provided quiet acts of kindness that made a world of difference.
Wendy leaves behind a deeply loving family, including her devoted husband David (Boyd) Reynolds, her daughter Jennifer Reynolds Larivee and son-in-law John Larivee, her granddaughter Annabelle Larivee, her sister Bettye Rainwater, her sister-in-law Priscilla Reynolds, and her niece Kate Spatafora—all of whom will forever carry her in their hearts.
While a memorial service has not yet been scheduled, Wendy's family welcomes those touched by her life to honor her memory in a way she would have loved—by giving. Contributions in her honor may be made to: Heifer International (www.heifer.org), or The American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
Wendy believed in finding the beauty in each day. So today, and every day forward, we will try to do just that—to smile at the small joys, to find beauty where it blooms, and to never forget her sparkle. She will be missed beyond measure.
Wendy's family would like to thank the staff of Friends of Caroline Hospice for the professional and compassionate care they provided during the last 5 Months. In particular we would like to thank Registered Nurses Jamie, Bailey and Courtney and Certified Nursing Assistants Audrey and LaShonda. The family also would like to thank Tiffany and Jessica of Arms of Love Caregiving for the wonderful support and care they provided Wendy and her family.
