Vickie Gene Cummings, of Dataw Island, passed away on January 20, 2021 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital from complications of Covid-19.\nVickie was born on July 18, 1944, to the late Pearl and Eugene Nolte in Johnstown, PA. She moved to Washington D.C. in 1962 where she began her career as a Legal Secretary/Administrative Assistant. She met and married her late husband, John (Jack) Cummings and they resided in Alexandria, VA until they moved to Dataw in 2000. She continued to work as a legal secretary at Levin, Gilley, Fisher and Reid until her passing. Vickie devoted much of her free time to the Dataw Garden Club and served as Secretary and Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed her Book Clubs, golfing with the 9 Hole ladies group and many social and charitable events. Most of all, Vickie was Mrs. Claus, the Head Elf to her husband's Santa, for the Annual Dataw toy drive and luncheon for the children of deployed Marines at MCAS.\nShe was preceded in death by Jack, her husband of 44 years, her sister Marie Nolte of Virginia and brother Raymond Nolte of Maryland.\nShe is survived by her sister Evelyn Neblett of Lynchburg, VA and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends on Dataw Island and in Beaufort.\nVickie was a member of Sea Island Presbyterian Church. A small private ceremony is being finalized and she will be interred next to her late husband in Beaufort National Cemetery.\n Donations to the Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.\nMemorial services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 10:30am in Sea Island Presbyterian Church. Burial will be private.
