Dr. T. Ray Sherbert

Dr. T. Ray Sherbert, age 85 of Beaufort, SC passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at his Beaufort home.

A graveside memorial service will be held on September 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Beaufort National Cemetery including military honors performed by the United States Army.

Ray was born on September 3, 1941 in Enoree, SC. He is preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Sherbert Whitmore and his son Thurman Ray Sherbert, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kathryn Jones Sherbert, of Beaufort, SC; three children Dr. David Sherbert (Cindy)of Greenville, SC and Christian E. Sherbert (Liz) of Beaufort, SC, and David Steedley (Tani); as well as his grandchildren, Davis Sherbert, Caroline Sherbert, Elizabeth Ann Sherbert, Carson Sherbert, Liza Raye Sherbert, Reese Steedley( Kalee), Daniel Steedley, and Dawson Steedley, one great-grandson, Randle Steedley.

Dr. Sherbert graduated from Clemson University. He recieved his medical degree from the Medical University of SC. After serving in the Army in Panama as a general physician he completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Bowman Gray University. Dr. Sherbert practiced at Beaufort Memorial Hospital and several other hospitals in the area. He retired from the US Naval Hospital, Beaufort.
Dr. Sherbert was a member of Carteret Street United Methodist Church.
He was an avid golfer and he was well known for the cars collected for many years.
