Thomas Handy Obituary (1957

Tom passed away peacefully on February 14 after a month-long battle with COVID, his wife Marilyn and sister Peyton at his side. He died as he lived, surrounded by those he loved. If you are reading this, you probably knew Tom as a person who invested whole-heartedly in cherishing and maintaining relationships. Tom had friends from all walks in life, through all geographies and life phases. With these friends, many memories were made from an annual canoe trip that ran 40 consecutive years with old friends to a golf trip to Kiawah in November with new friends and countless in between. Tom remembers all of them. Grandpa "T" loved and was adored by his five grandchildren, never turning down giving a shoulder ride or taking on his role as "Tickle Monster". Time spent with family was always special time, whether for just a few days or a week in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Tom will be greatly missed but as a result of his 63 years of friendships and memory-making his legacy will live on. In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Tom's life, the family requests that those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital, an organization very dear to Tom.
