Sharon Kay Smith was born in Washington, D.C. to James Alexander and Shirley Loretta (McManus) Vaughan on July 28, 1944. She departed this life at her home in Jay, Oklahoma on March 22, 2021 at the age of 76.\nSharon graduated from DeVal High School in 1962. She attended the University of South Carolina. She worked for the United States Government for over 30 years. After retirement she continued her career working in purchasing and pharmacy at Elkview General Hospital.\nSharon married Joseph Andrew Smith on September 28, 1963 in Washington, D.C. They made their home in Beaufort, S.C; Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Bermuda, BT; and Lady's Island, SC. In 2000 after the death of her beloved "Joe" she relocated to Hobart, Oklahoma to be closer to her family.\nSharon enjoyed bottle digging, antiques hunting, photography, boat rides at sunset, waterfalls and watching the migration of her hummingbirds, pelicans and pileated woodpeckers. She found beauty in nature and loved spending time outdoors exploring. She was a kind soul that always found the good in everything. Sharon lived a beautiful life that was so full of love.\nSharon is survived by her daughters Sharon Jo Smith of Florence, SC; Nancy and husband Jeffrey Phillips of Hobart, OK; Son Jimmy and wife Nona Smith of Hobart, OK; daughter Kathleen Smith of Altus, OK; and bonus son Roger and wife Christy Jones of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren, Brandon Appling of OKC, OK; Brett and wife Alexis Appling of Moore, OK; Erik and wife Victoria Diaz of Orlando, FL; Chelsea and husband Rinat Nadeev of Charleston, SC; Tyler Gable of San Antonio, TX; Jarrett Phillips of Bethany, OK; and Jacie Phillips of Norman, OK; 5 great grandchildren Sofia and Emma Diaz, Bennett and Brady Appling, and Conner Nadeev. She also, included in her heart, 3 "bonus" grandchildren, Kristian Combs, Landon Walker and her best pal Lauren Outhier.\nSharon loved her big Smith family. She is survived by sister-in-laws Catherine Carter, Peggy Eskew, Betty Smith, brother in law Pat Bright and numerous nieces and nephews.\nSharon was preceded in death by her parents and husband Joseph Smith.\nA memorial service was held on Grand Lake in Jay, OK on April 11th at Sunset.\nA graveside service was held on June 25 at 2pm in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Beaufort, SC.
