Sampson Paul Schwartz, Jr, 76, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on January 11 after a long battle with cancer.\n \nHe is survived by Sharon Tipton Schwartz, two sons; Sampson Paul Schwartz, 111 and John Dozier Schwartz, a daughter-in-law, Lisa Walter Schwartz, and one grandson, John Dozier Schwartz, Jr. all from Beaufort, two brothers, Steven Lee Schwartz of Montgomery, Alabama and Peter Revelle Schwartz of Dunwoody, Ga.\n \nHe is predeceased by his parents, Sampson Paul Schwartz and Evelyn Mae Trumpore Schwartz, both of Beaufort.\n \nPaul was born in Beaufort and raised on "The Point". He attended public schools and graduated from Beaufort High School where he excelled in sports. He graduated from the Citadel in 1964. Upon graduation he was employed by DuPont and Company in Camden, SC. He left DuPont to return to Beaufort to run the family business, Beaufort Hardware Company, which he owned and operated until his retirement.\n \nThe family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Crescent Hospice and immense gratitude to Dr. Clark Trask for his kind and compassionate care.\n \nAt the request of the deceased there will be no service.\n \nIn lieu of flowers, donations to the Port Royal Sound Foundation Maritime Center, 310 Okatie Highway, Okatie, SC 29909 would be appreciated.
