Ruth Rentz Qualls, 88, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the hospital in Greenville, SC with her family at her side.\n Mrs. Qualls was born in Augusta, Georgia, and lived most of her life in Beaufort, SC. She was the daughter of the late Willock Sullivan Rentz and Emma Barwick Rentz. Mrs. Qualls attended Columbia College in Columbia, SC and worked civil service before marrying James L. Qualls who preceded her in death on July 17, 2013.\n She was a homemaker for 23 years and worked for Woods and Woods Accounting and Harpers Motors. She was a member of the King Street Church of Christ where she was a lifelong Bible student and taught many children's and ladies' classes. Her two favorite ministries were cooking for other people and sewing. She had been living the past year and a half with her daughter in Greenville, SC and attended Taylors Church of Christ when she was able. \n As an active member of the Ribaut Garden Club, she served as an officer in different capacities and loved arranging flowers. She was active for a number of years in the Low Country Girl Scout Council, as a leader and helped with many council activities.\n Surviving are three daughers and sons-in-laws; Vicki and Ramon Norris of Winston Salem, NC; Donna and Jeff Stone of Greenville, SC; Janis and Michael DiPaolo of Fort Worth, TX, eight grandchildren: Eric Norris (Linda), Ian Norris, Eve Norris Roberts (Chris), Sandy Stone Huff (Chris), Jeffrey Stone (Aspen), Christopher Stone (Katie), Melissa DiPaolo Golightly (Jonathan), Laura DiPaolo McElroy(Billy); and fifteen great grandchildren: Cole, Reese, and Blake Norris, Matthew, Michael and Nathan Huff, Stanton and Dylan Stone, Cannon and Emma Golightly, and Caleb , James, Beau, Jason and newborn Ruthie Jean McElroy.\n The family would like to thank all of the caregivers for their excellent care of Mrs. Qualls and the numerous friends that have brought food and visited.\n Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929, in honor of her great grandson, Nathan James Huff.\n The funeral services will be Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11:30 AM at King Street Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 AM prior to the services at King Street Church of Christ.
