Robert Norris Sloan died in the early morning hours of May 30, 2015 due to complications from a stroke. He was the husband of Caroline Talmage Sloan with whom he enjoyed nearly 53 years of marriage. Born in New York City to Florence Lee and Robert Sage Sloan, Bobby grew up in Lawrence, NY. He graduated from St. George's School in 1956, attended the United States Naval Academy Class of 1961 and earned a business degree from Hofstra University. He worked in publishing at House and Garden Magazine, in Stadium Magazines at Madison Square Garden and the New York Yankees. He retired from the Lakeville Journal in Connecticut in 1987 and with Caroline moved to Beaufort, South Carolina where he enjoyed sailing and tennis in to the later years of his life. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Florence Lee Schoyer. He is survived by his wife and three sons; Robert, Jr, Prentice Elliman and Lockwood Talmage, daughter in-laws Michele Murray and Jane Roth and six grandchildren; Emily, John Prentice, Peter, Meredith, Parker and Lilly. Caroline and Bobby raised their family in Lawrence, New York. They both served on the Lawrence Country Day School Board of Trustees. He also served on the Boards of the Lawrence Beach Club as well as the Rockaway Hunting Club. Gravesite service will be held at Trinity St. John's Episcopal Church in Hewlett, New York.
