Richard A. Welhoelter passed away peacefully April 20, 2020 at age 87 in Beaufort, SC near his home on Fripp Island where he had lived for over 25 years.\nHe was born April 16, 1933 in St. Louis, MO to Morton Welhoelter and Ethel Klauberg Welhoelter. He served honorably in the Army as a topographer in Austria. He was married to JoAnne Swain for 60 years and together they raised their family of three sons. Dick had a long and successful career at the USF&G Company, ultimately working as a General Manager in Scranton, PA, San Jose, CA and Pittsburgh, PA. He retired in October 1990.\nDick was predeceased by his wife, JoAnne, brother, Victor and sister, JoAnn Gaynor.\nHe is survived by his sons, Thomas, Stephen (Vali) and Michael (Leslie), his brother Howard, his sister Beverly and five loving grandchildren and one great grandchild.\nA private ceremony will be held at the Beaufort National Cemetery in South Carolina.\nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in his name, to The American Lung Association.
