Richard (Dick) Wayne Jennings, of Beaufort, S.C., passed away on July 28, 2018 at the age of 77.\n Dick was co-owner of Jennings Building Systems, Inc. He worked in real estate and was also a charter boat captain. Dick was a graduate of Beaufort High School and attended Palomar College in California. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He was Commander of the American Legion Post 9 and served as Skipper of Beaufort Water Search and Rescue for many years. He was a member of Port Royal United Methodist Church.\n He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved fishing, being on the water, watching his grandkids play sports, and telling stories. He was a generous man who loved to help people. He was loved by all who met him and he will be greatly missed.\n Dick is survived by his wife of fifty years, Libby W. Jennings, and three sons; Richard (Jean), Christopher (Elizabeth), and Scott. Five grandchildren; Kirsten Jennings, Hayden Jennings, Rance Jennings, Andrew Jennings, and Caitlynn Foskey; and two great grandchildren, Rhett and Knox. He is also survived by two sisters, Olivia Clark of Virginia and Ruth Edwards of Florida, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.\n He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Donald O. and Niona K. Pope; his father William A. Jennings; and two brothers, Charles W. Jennings, Sr. and Walter A. Jennings.\n Family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Tuesday July 31 at Anderson Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 on Wednesday August 1st at Port Royal United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Beaufort National Cemetery.\n In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Post 9, P.O. Box 2540 Beaufort, SC 29901-2540.
