Rhoda Rentz Obituary (2017)

Rhoda Godley Rentz, widow of Carson R. (Jim) Rentz, passed on at home on September 12, 2017. Rhodie was born on November 6, 1931 at Oaks Plantation on St. Helena Island, SC to Jadie R. and Henrietta C. Godley.A She and her husband owned and operated Coastal Contractors, Inc.A She was a member of the Baptist Church of Beaufort where she taught Sunday school for many years.A She was an avid gardener but more than anything loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are one daughter, JoElla Rentz and two sons, Timothy L. Rentz (Pam) and Leland C. Rentz (Chris); one sister Gertrude G. McAlhaney; six grandchildren Elijah Rentz, Jamie Flora, Megan Rentz. Kelsey Fargher, Zachary Rentz and Lee Rentz; and 4 great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Jase, Addelyn and Tanner. Mrs. Rentz was predeceased by her husband, her parents and siblings Norris, Reba Woods, Aubrey, Myrtle Epps, Marvin, Lonnie, Helen Darby, Jack, Barbara Rodgers and Joyce Golden. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews that loved her very much. Graveside services will be on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Beaufort Memorial Gardens.A All her family and friends are welcome to fellowship with the family at The Baptist Church of Beaufort Fellowship hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests those who wish may make memorials to Hospice Care of America or a Beaufort charity of your choice.
