Ralph Young

Ralph Nelson Young, 82, of Beaufort, SC, died Friday, April 25, 2025 at The Retreat of Lady's Island.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 2:00pm in Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors.

Mr. Young was born on June 27, 1942 in St. Joseph County, IN. He is the son of the late Forrest F. Young and Maxine Gladys Fristoe Young.

Ralph served in the Marine Corps from 1960 to 1967. He served one year aboard the U.S.S Gen J.C. Breckinridge in support of the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) after which he served with H&HS, MCAS, Beaufort S.C..

In 1968 Ralph enlisted in the Air Force where he was part of the 437th Military Airlift Wing responsible for minor and major repairs for the C141A&B as well as the C5A aircraft stationed at Charleston Air Force Base.

In 1980 Ralph retired honorably after 20 years of service to his country.

After military retirement Ralph served as a security guard with the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston S.C. and later as a fuel systems specialist with NADEP Pensacola NAS working on the MH-53J Pave Low III heavy-lift helicopter program where he fully retired in 1995.

Surviving are three sons, Scott Young, Troy Young and Paul Young; one daughter, Michelle Marshall; one brother, Ronald Young; two sisters, Sandy Burk and Ruth Combs; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
