Peggy DuRant

Peggy Beaty DuRant passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband of 51 years and her daughter, Leigh Hiers.

She was born on September 8,1952, and was the daughter of the late James and Patsy Beaty. Peggy was raised in Sumter, South Carolina where she graduated from Wilson Hall Academy. In 1974, she married Perry W. DuRant and helped support him as "they" attended MUSC Dental School in Charleston. After graduating, they moved to Beaufort, S.C. and enjoyed 51 years of marriage, boating, shrimping, crabbing, and raising two wonderful children, Leigh Hiers and Walker DuRant.

Peggy was an accomplished seamstress and especially enjoyed smocking, making countless outfits for friends and family. She was involved for years in her church and enjoyed making meals for other church members.

Peggy was predeceased by her sister Janet Crabtree, her son Walker and her precious grandson Rylan Hiers.

She will be forever missed by her daughter Leigh(Scott)Hiers, grandson Logan Hiers, her loving husband Perry, her church family, and friends.

The most important relationship Peggy cared about was with her Heavenly Father, and we celebrate the fact she is now with Him.

A memorial service will be held at First Scots Presbyterian Church, at 11:30 on April 22, 2025.
