Paul R Bazemore, Sr. Obituary (1922

Paul R. Bazemore, Sr., 93, widower of Azilea Smith Bazemore, of Beaufort, SC passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his residence. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 5 to 7 pm at Anderson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1 pm at The Baptist Church of Beaufort with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Bazemore was born on April 12, 1922 in Sylvania, GA to the late Joseph Heman Bazemore and Ila Brunson Bazemore. After serving in World War II in the Coast Guard and in the US Army during Korea, Mr. Bazemore worked for the US Post Office and owned and operated the Royal Drive-In Theatre and Putt-Putt Golf Course on Ribaut Road. He later managed the Cities Service Gas Station on Highway 21 in Burton and crabbed commercially during the early 1960's. He retired as a Housing Inspector at MCAS Beaufort in the mid-1970's. He joined Century 21 Carolina Realty and was there top salesman for over 6 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Beaufort and a charter member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Sertoma Club. Surviving are two sons, Captain Paul R. Bazemore, JR., US Naval Reserve Retired (Wanda) of Charleston, SC and Harry S. Bazemore of Beaufort, SC; two daughters, Susan B. Krumm (Fred) of Beaufort, SC and Laura B. Clampitt (Jimmy) of Saint Helena, SC; two sisters, Jeanette Wilson and LaRose Smith both of Beaufort, SC ; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren and special family friends Mae Gibbs, Bunny Ferguson, Barbara Albergotti and Ann at Tidewater Hospice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Azilea; parents, Joseph and Ila; a sister, Corrie Dean Cullom; two brothers, Joseph Bazemore and Emerson Bazemore and great-great grandson, Cooper Thomas Melvin.
