Paul James Alba Balmediano, 21, of Beaufort, SC, died Monday, May 2, 2022.\n \nJames was born on November 16, 2000 in Manila, Philippines. He is the son of Pablo N. Balmediano and Jennifer Alba Balmediano, who joyfully raised him in Taytay Rizal, Philippines along with his loving siblings Ate Pat and Kuya Justin Balmediano. James immigrated to the United States with his family, where they settled in Beaufort, SC and he attended Mossy Oaks Elementary, Beaufort Middle, and Beaufort High School. He played violin for the Beaufort Youth Orchestra and loved biking on the Spanish Moss Trail with friends. With an inquisitive mind, James excelled in his studies and attended the SC Governor's School for Science and Mathematics for his last two years of high school in Hartsville, SC. He was an avid player of Super Smash Bros and an active member of the chess team. James developed a love for cooking and baking through YouTube and loved to make delicious food for his friends and family. After two successful years at Governor's school, James headed to Clemson University where he studied mechanical engineering and participated in the Cooperative Education Program as an intern with Compact Automation Products in Westminster, SC. He also took Japanese language classes and enjoyed experiencing Japanese culture through anime and music. Generous with his time, James was not only a top student in his class, but also shared his knowledge with classmates as a tutor and was always happy to answer questions about engineering or Japanese homework.\nJames had a kind, patient soul and brought so much joy to his loved ones, who grieve dearly for a life that ended too soon.\nThe family will receive friends on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 5:00-7:00pm at Anderson Funeral Home.\nFuneral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Lady's Island.
