Patricia Ann “Patty” Edwards
November 27, 1955 – August 7, 2026
Mrs. Patricia Ann “Patty” Edwards, age 70, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 611 Robert Smalls Parkway, Beaufort, SC 29906.
Patty was born on November 27, 1955, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, to James and Arlene Burroughs. She was raised in a devout Catholic family, an important part of her early life and upbringing.
Looking for a change of pace, Patty eventually made her way from Maryland to Beaufort, South Carolina. Her sister Dee, who was serving in the United States Marine Corps, was stationed at Parris Island at the time. Patty came for something different and ended up finding a home.
While in Beaufort, she met Robert “Bobby” Keith Edwards Jr. They married on October 17, 1987, and spent nearly 39 years together. To Bobby, she was also affectionately known as “Tootsie,” a nickname he gave her throughout their life together. Beaufort became the place where they raised their family and built their lives. Bobby retired from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, while Patty spent her career working for Beaufort County. She later retired from the Engineering Department, where she worked as an administrative assistant.
Patty was a devoted mom who loved her family deeply. She was proud of the adults her children became and of the lives and families they built for themselves. She believed in raising her children to be responsible, hardworking people, and seeing them become just that was something she could be proud of.
Then came the grandchildren. Patty loved spending time with them, and feeding them was simply part of being Nana. If you were at Patty’s house, chances were she was going to make sure you had something to eat. Those everyday moments with her, the visits, the food, and just sitting around together, are the kinds of things her family will miss the most.
Patty also had plenty of things she enjoyed simply because they made her happy. She loved baseball and remained a loyal Baltimore Orioles fan. Country music was another favorite, especially when she could enjoy it live at a concert. And anyone who knew Patty knew about her love for cats.
Patty is survived by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Keith Edwards Jr.; her daughter, Suzette (Edwards) Torres and son-in-law, Damon Torres; her son, William Keith Edwards; and the five grandchildren she loved so much: Landon, Garrett, and Wade Torres, Kevin Smith, and Angela Edwards. She is also survived by her sisters, Marie Herman and Deloris (Dee) Upton, and Dee’s husband, Gary Upton.
Patty’s life was rooted in her family. She was a wife, a mom, a Nana, a sister, and a woman who found happiness in the people and things she loved. Her family will miss her presence in all the ordinary places where she was simply always there: family gatherings, meals around the table, Orioles games, country songs, and time spent together.
She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Patty’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
