Patricia Ann "Patsy" Deer, 76, died peacefully on Sunday, May 12th at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina from complications of a long battle with breast cancer. Patsy is survived by her loving sister Jean Deer McManus and brother-in-law John of Lake Wylie, brother-in-law Robert N. Lineberger of Hickory, NC, nieces Melanie Lineberger Lutz (Joe) of Conover, NC, Robin Lineberger of Boone, NC, Elizabeth Lineberger Tarumianz (Jeff) of Charlotte, NC, Leigh McManus Reynolds (Phillip) of Rock Hill, and many loving great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Otis Marion Deer and Jeanette Kennedy "Susie" Deer, in addition to her sister, Joyce Deer Lineberger.\nPatsy was born on March 17, 1943, in Washington, DC to Otis and Susie Deer. Raised with her two sisters in Hickory, North Carolina, she graduated from Claremont Central High School in 1962 and was crowned Miss Hickory in the same year. She then attended and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Merchandising and Design. Patsy accomplished a long and successful career in the fashion and retail industry with such companies as Thalhimers, Montaldo's, and most recently, Talbots. As an adult, she lived in Richmond, Winston-Salem and ultimately, Beaufort, which she dearly loved and chose for her retirement.\nPatsy's family will always remember her as a loving, caring, and thoughtful aunt, sister and cousin. Patsy was a lover of all living things-- with a special fondness for dogs, cats, and flowers. She was also an aficionado of history, art, decor, and architecture. Patsy was an active volunteer of Santa Elena History Center and various humane societies over the years.\nA celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 2 pm at Carl W. Anderson Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements by Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory.
