Pat Horton (nee Patricia Carolyn Davis), Beaufort, SC\nOctober 29, 1950-May 28, 2022\nPat passed away peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Beaufort Memorial\nHospital surrounded by her loving family. Originally from Swainsboro, GA, she was first born to\nEllie Ray and Hazel Perryman Davis. She grew up on a farm, where education and love of the land\nwere embedded. She later attended Georgia Southern College ('68-'73) where she met Keith Wilson\nHorton (Fairfax, SC) whom she married on August 19, 1973, in Swainsboro, GA. Pat was a devoted\nmother of two daughters, Heather, and Erin.\nShe was an educator for 41 years at Broad River Elementary School where her focus was love of\ncommunity, and love of learning, and after she retired, she continued to offer mentorship through\nthe county for new teachers as well as volunteering at Holy Trinity in the school library.\nThroughout her time as an educator, she also earned a masters from USC, and was a SC Master\nNaturalist. She was a lifelong learner herself, an avid reader (especially of crime, mystery, and\nfantasy), as well as lover of nature and stories.\nAlong with her husband and daughters, she leaves behind a son-in-law, Louis Sweet II; two brothers\nDonald Davis and Wayne Davis (Carol Davis), a sister Cheryl Donaldson (Everett Donaldson) and 10\nnieces and nephews.\nVisitation for Mrs. Horton will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 10AM until 11 AM at\nAnderson Funeral Home with Graveside Services following at 11:15 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery.\nFlowers are accepted, but the family requests that if you prefer to make a donation to please, make\nthem out to one of the following: CAPA or Spring Island Trust or the Kiwanis Children's Fund.
