Norman Ward

–

Beaufort, South Carolina

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Norman O. Ward, affectionately known as “Happy,” who peacefully departed this life on May 22, 2026.

Norman was born on August 27, 1947, in Clarendon, Jamaica. From humble beginnings, he built a life marked by determination, faith, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to his family. In Jamaica, he worked as an electrical engineer with the public service sector, where he demonstrated the strong work ethic and dedication that would define his life. Seeking greater employment opportunities and a brighter educational future for his children, Norman later immigrated to the United States, where he worked tirelessly to rebuild and provide for those he loved.

For more than 30 years, Norman served as a Foreman with the New York City Transit Authority. Throughout his tenure, he earned numerous recognitions, including Employee of the Year and Foreman of the Year, reflecting his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence.

A devoted man of faith, Norman was a longtime member and elder at Goshen Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church. He loved the Lord deeply and lived his life grounded in service, integrity, and compassion. In his later years, he settled in Beaufort to be closer to family and became deeply loved by his church family at Beaufort Seventh-day Adventist Church. There, he continued to share his wisdom, humor, faith, and love with those around him.

Norman was a hardworking, focused, and dependable provider who cherished his family and friends. A true survivor, he faced life’s challenges with strength, determination, and unwavering faith. Known by many as “Happy,” he had a joyful spirit, a contagious laugh, and a gift for storytelling. No matter how many times his stories were told, they were always shared with the same passion and excitement, becoming treasured memories for those who listened.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved bride of 51 years, Sylvia Ward; his four loving daughters, Nerine, Sabaenia, Sadie, and Sophia; his beloved son-in-love, Trimane; his siblings, Horace Ward, Winston Thompson, and William Grant; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his kindness and strength.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the hope and blessed assurance that Norman rests peacefully, awaiting the second coming of Christ.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
