MGYSGT Clifford E. Smith, 87, United States Marine Corps., retired, of Beaufort, SC, passed away on November 3, 2018 at MUSC. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 11 AM-12:30 PM at Anderson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM at the Beaufort National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Mr. Smith was born on November 29, 1930 in Savannah, GA, the son of Harmon James and Bernice Mildred (Edinfield) Smith. He later married Laura Nell Thompson. He served in the Korean War and 2 tours in Vietnam, prior to his retirement after 30 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. Survivors include: his wife: Laura Smith; four sons: Larry G. (Lori) Smith; Sammy J. (Tanya) Smith; Michael D. (Janelle) Smith; Thomas E. (Betty) Smith; one sister: Shirley Newman; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
