Lyola (Lee) June Greene Obituary (1939

Lyola (Lee) June Greene, 80, of Dataw Island, South Carolina, died peacefully at home Saturday February 29th, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Lyle and Lola Shoemaker, August 25th, 1939 in Shanghai, China. Lee graduated from Downingtown High School in 1957 and received a nursing degree from Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. She married the Alex Greene of St. Clair, Pennsylvania in 1960, and proceeded to live in Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Michigan before retiring to South Carolina in 2004. Lee was an excellent golfer and Bridge player as well as an amazing cook and seamstress. She enjoyed times with her family eating, drinking, laughing and talking. Everyone was welcomed as family in her household. Lee is survived by husband Alex, three children: Beck and wife Dawn Greene, of Grosse Ile, Mi; Kevin Greene and wife Marty Kilgore, of Seattle, WA; and Eric Greene; as well as three brothers: John, Bobby and Byron. She also is survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Please, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Hospice Care of the Low Country, the American Kidney Fund, or your favorite charity. A celebration of life will be held in the future where we will gather to honor this fine woman, mother, wife, nurse, friend, and grandma.
