Linden Johnson Obituary (2017)

Linden McConnell Johnson, age 70 of Saint Helena Island died at home on August 5, 2017. She was born in Coventry, England to the late Joseph and Jean Silman McConnell. She was employed with University of Warwick, Coventry England. She came to Rochester, NY in 1968. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida and worked for Children's Medical Group until 1978 when she moved to Columbia, SC. She was employed for Columbia Skin Clinic for 17 years. Linden and her husband, Julian E. Johnson Jr. opened Affinity Farms, later became the Affinity Farms Garden Shop and Landscape Company. She and her mother-in-law owned the Affinity Farm Ceramic Shop. Ten years ago they moved to St. Helena Island, Linden and Julian opened the Islands Meat Market on Lady's Island. Linden was always busy and never met a stranger and always willing to help someone. Linden loved crafts, painting, gardening, flowers, and was a wonderful cook. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Julian E. Johnson, Jr., step son, Jonathan Vickers, Port Royal, sister, Elizabeth Miller (John) Blythewood, SC, brother, Peter McConnell (Joy), North Shields, England, sister-in-law, Maureen McConnell, England, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Julian and Frances Johnson, Ridgeway, SC, brother-in-law Judson H. Johnson, Sr. (Robin), Ridgeway, SC, nieces, nephews, and her dogs, Maggie, Lilly and Beau. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Stephen J. McConnell. A local service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 2-6PM at a residence. Call Islands Meat Market for directions.
