Joyce Collins

Joyce U. Collins, 92 of Port Royal, SC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the Retreat at Ladys Island where she had resided for 4 years.

Visitation for Mrs. Collins will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Port Royal United Methodist Church with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Beaufort Memorial Gardens.

Joyce was born on June 25, 1934, in Hampton Co., SC, the daughter of the late Edwin and Clara (Rivers) Ulmer. She graduated in 1952 from Varnville High School, and went to college at Columbia Commercial College where she earned her degree in Secretarial Science. She spent 21 years as the secretary for St. Helena Anglican Church. She was an active member of the Port Royal United Methodist Church.

Joyce loved to sing, praise, gather with her friends, her flowers, and watching birds, but her true love was chocolate.

Survivors include: three step-daughters: Glenda Collins, Sabrina Johnson, and Debra Haiger; sister-in-law: Gladys Ulmer; her two special friends: Marjorie Chavis, and Glenda Nix; and multiple nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, her first husband: William F. Youmans, Jr., and second husband: Horace Collins; brother: Danny Ulmer; three half brothers: Jackie, Thomas, and George Ulmer; and two half sisters: Veda Long and Hilda Poff.
