John Paul O'Quinn Obituary (1943

John Paul OQuinn, 67, passed away December 31, 2010 at his residence. Mr. OQuinn was born October 6, 1943 in Beaufort, SC the son of James Curtis OQuinn and Marian Toomer OQuinn Herring. He graduated from Camden Military Academy in Camden SC. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Ranger Division. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Beaufort, as his love of the river kept him close to Beaufort most of his life. It was then he found his career as a Law Enforcement Officer for the City of Beaufort Police Department. He began as an entry level officer, and after working his way through the ranks, Major OQuinn retired as Deputy Chief of Police. Mr. OQuinn was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Karen L. OQuinn, a son, Curtis Lee OQuinn, daughters Paula OQuinn Kizer (Keith) and Lanie Marie OQuinn, four Grandchildren, Justin, Jarrett, Mary Beth and Madison Kizer all of Beaufort. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 5-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 11:00am in Community Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to United Hospice of Beaufort, 1605 North Street, Beaufort, SC 29902 Anderson Funeral Home is serving the family.
