John Wylie Craig III passed on December 17th, 2022 at the age of 85. He is survived by his daughters Kim Taylor (Ken), Tammy Godleski (Brian), and Amy Guthrie (James Williams). His grandchildren, Grace Godleski, Wylie Godleski, Anthony Taylor, Nikki Taylor, and Amanda Taylor also carry his memory. His wife, Alice Tucker Craig, preceded him in death in 2013. This will be their first Christmas together in 9 years. \nHe was born October 21st, 1937 in Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from Harding High School, he enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Reserves. He attended Presbyterian College, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology and met his wife, Alice. John moved all across the Southeast with his family, pursuing careers ranging from college admissions to hospitality management. \nJohn was previously a member of The Shaddai Shrine Temple in Panama City, Florida, The Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Harmony Lodge in Port Royal, South Carolina. While living in Panama City, he became a clown through a program with the Shriners. As Tux the Clown, John attended numerous charity events, birthday parties, and festivals in Beaufort over the last 20 years. He was a proud member of St. Helena's Anglican Church and was actively involved in their Kairos prison ministry program. \nIn lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Kairos program. Hilton Head, SC 29926. \nA Memorial Service will be held Thursday December 22, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Helena's Anglican Church of Beaufort. Interment in St. Helena Cemetery will be held at a later date.
