John Paul "Coach B" Blanken passed away on June 16th in Bluffton, SC after a battle with cancer. John was born January 14, 1958 in Scranton, PA. He was the son of Harry and Mary Reap Blanken.\nJohn lived his life "all in." He had many loves- his wife Rosemary, his children Kara, John, and Neil, and his grandchildren George and Isla. His passions included golf, boxing, and fishing. He was among the few of us brave enough to make their passions into their careers. John worked in the golf business for over 30 years, and was the trainer and owner of Four Star Boxing in Scranton, PA and First Round Boxing in Bluffton, SC. He was a proud member of USA Boxing and was a coach, mentor, and father figure to many youth and aspiring amateur and professional fighters. John was a giant of a man with a gentle soul. He smiled with his eyes and had a sense of humor that few could rival.\nJohn joins his beloved twin sister Jane (Evans), brother Harry, sister Barbara (Slack), and nephew Jimmy Slack in eternal life.\nA celebration of life in Bluffton, SC will be forthcoming at a later date, which will be announced on John's Facebook page.\nThere will be a memorial mass on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at 8am at Holy Rosary Parish in Scranton, PA to honor John and his best friend, fishing partner, and brother Harry, who also passed away only a few short months ago. Memorial contributions can be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice (Port Royal, SC). Those wishing to honor John's life are encouraged to make donations to USA Boxing in memory of Coach B.
