Joan R. DeLong, 80, of Brunswick, GA, formerly of Beaufort, SC, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021.\nJoan was born in Central Falls, Rhode Island on March 18, 1941. She is survived by: her husband of 64 years, Roger E. DeLong; daughter: Deborah Anderson (Ken); son: Gary J. DeLong (Patricia); four grandchildren: Keith DuBose, Jr. (Wendy), Amanda D. Smith (Brock), Thomas F. DeLong, Joseph A. DeLong (Catherine); seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.\nJoan enjoyed a career as an Administrative Assistant, working for several businesses in Ridgeland, SC for the late Judge Albert L. Kleckley, and, finally, at the Technical College of the Low Country where she retired in 1997. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed cooking, crocheting, painting, sewing, and knitting hats for new-born babies at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where she was affectionately known as "The Hat Lady."\nThe family will receive friends on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 10:00 until 11:30 AM at Anderson Funeral Home with Funeral Services at 11:30 AM in the Carl Anderson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow the funeral at Forest Lawn Cemetery.\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tidal Creek Fellowship, 290 Brickyard Point Road South, Lady's Island, SC 29907.\nA reception will be held at the Tidal Creek Fellowship following the Burial Services.
