GSGT Jesse Elmore Locke, 95, widow of Nellie Jane Locke, of Beaufort, SC, died Saturday, November 9, 2024 in Sprenger Healthcare of Port Royal.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 10:00am in Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Locke was born on October 14, 1929 in Jacksonville, FL. He is the son of the late Joseph H. Locke and Addie Arnold Locke.
He attended Robert E. Lee High School and at the age of 17 joined the United States Marine Corps. He traveled the world and fought in the Korean War and in Viet Nam. He served 22 years in the USMC. After he retired from the USMC, he worked with Arnold Palmer, his favorite golfer. He spent most of his retirement on the golf course, either working or playing. His goal after he turned 80 years old was to always shoot below his age and he always accomplished that as long as he played.
Besides golf, he loved sports cars and always had 2 cars with at least one being a convertible.
Jesse and Jane moved to Beaufort in 1955 and this became their permanent home.
In addition to the family members mentioned above, he was predeceased by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
He leaves behind very special nieces, nephews and very close friends and treasured them all. Each of those left behind know who they are and all treasure having him in their lives as much as he treasured them. Semper Fi!
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to CAPA.
