James Parker White of Beaufort, S.C. passed away at his residence on Thursday, October 8, 2020.\nTo his friends he was known as Jim. To his children he was known as Dad. To his loving wife he was always known as Jimmy. But to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren he was known affectionately as Papa.\nJim was born on February 13, 1932 in Hartwell, GA. He grew up on a farm in Townville, S.C. just outside of Anderson. He attended Anderson Jr. College and completed his higher education at the University of South Carolina. It was at Anderson Jr. College where he met his other-half; Sue Wofford. With each one knowing God had planned their union long before they met it didn't take long before they married. In 1951 they began a journey together that spanned 68 wonderful and devoted years together. The legacy they created with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren has been one his greatest joys.\nJim retired from the Navy after 23 years, but continued hospital administration work until his second retirement in civilian life.\nThrough your example you have taught us so much; How to be strong yet compassionate, How to be firm yet fair, How to be resolute in our convictions yet respectful with those who differ from ours, How to set our goals high yet measure success by our efforts to achieve them. And most importantly; The success of our life is not measured by what we've done with our life, but what we've done for others lives.\nJim is survived by his three sons (Jay, Jeff, & Jon), eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.\nVisitation will be held at Anderson Funeral Home on October 16th at 12:15 with a Memorial Service to begin at 12:45.\nIn lieu of flowers please make donations by contacting Agape Care at 843-473-6204.
