Beaufort, South Carolina
James "Bud" Luther Wensil, 89, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in his home the morning of September 6, 2026.
He was born on February 2, 1937, in Concord, North Carolina, but grew up in Salisbury, North Carolina. He lived in North Carolina until a contract job with the phone company brought him to Beaufort, SC. He is the son of the late Harry Wensil and the late Josie Wensil. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Wensil, and sister, Elizabeth "Lib" Beaver. Surviving are his wife, Donna Wensil; his daughters, Linda "Machelle" Wensil and Katherine "Kathy" Smith; granddaughter Sarah Smith (Clayton Hadwin); and great-granddaughter Cadence Hadwin.
He was retired from the phone company, where he worked most of his life. He only retired 2 or 3 times before he decided he was actually ready to retire and enjoy his girls doing whatever he wanted to do. If that doesn't show you how hard of a worker he truly was. He loved to fish and shrimp in his younger days. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He would do anything for anybody; he never met a stranger. His great-granddaughter was always telling on him for talking to complete strangers. His family meant the world to him, and he spent as much time with family as he could. He was loved by so many because loving him was so easy. He will be dearly missed by so many, but we are so thankful for the many years we got to love such an amazing man.
He was the best Husband, Daddy, Papa and Friend!!
A public visitation will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, Septembr 8, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
