Jim was born January 1, 1944 in Buffalo, NY, the son of Truman and Margaret Carr Parks. A graduate of SUNY Maritime College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he spent most of his 38-year working career in the electric utility industry with Delmarva Power, Wilmington, DE and First Energy, Akron, OH.\nFuneral Mass will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11 o'clock at Holy Cross Mission.\nHe spent his retirement years at his home on Lake Erie and Fripp Island doing what he loved most, spending time with his loving wife Alice, golfing, boating, fishing, tennis, and pickleball with his cherished friends. Jim served on several FIPOA committees, two terms as a commissioner on the Public Service District, and two terms on the Village of Newhaven condo association board. Jim served with civic organizations both on and off the island including SUNY Maritime College, Class of '65 Scholarship Committee and several condo associations. He remained a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan.\nJim was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald Parks\nHe is survived by his wife Alice, three children: Jim Parks, Meredith Stever, and Sarah Slaughter, their spouses and five grandchildren, step son Steve (Lisa) Aretz and brother Larry (Agnes) Parks.\nIn lieu of flowers donations may be made to Prisma Health ITOR, Rare Tumor Study, 900 B W.
