James Dale "JD" Jones, 75, of Beaufort, SC, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.\n\nHis loving wife, Barbara Irene Jones; his father and mother, J. Lovic and Merle Sailers Jones; his brother, Brian Jones, and his sister, Donna Jones preceded him in death.\n\nHe is survived by his two sons, James Dale Jones II (Tonya) of Beaufort, SC, and Jonathan Jones, of River Ridge, LA, two stepdaughters, Nickie Reed of Beaufort, SC, and Robin Aylor (Ray), Thomaston, GA, and stepson, Kevin Branchaud (Chanda), of Bonaire, GA.\n\nHe is also survived by his sister, Johnnie Irvin (Carlton), his brother, Joseph Jones (Donna), and Barry Jones (Kathy) all of Camilla, GA, brother Steve Jones (Penny) from Pelham, GA, and his brother Dayton Jones (Angie) from Havana, FL, as well as 10 beloved grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.\n\nJD served 26 years in the United States Marine Corps and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO2). He served as a drill instructor at Parris Island and ended his career as an Avionics Officer at MCAS Beaufort. He received numerous medals and commendations including the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Republic Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Republic Vietnam Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Mast, Meritorious Unit Commendation with 3 Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Letter of Recognition.\n\nJD was also a longtime member of Alano Hall in Port Royal and served as a sponsor to many. He also loved spending time at 'The Sands', sunning, watching the waves and birds, and talking with the locals. \n\nVisitation will be held on Friday, February 17 from 11 am to 1 pm at Anderson Funeral Home, Beaufort, SC, and will be followed by a veterans burial ceremony at Beaufort National Cemetery at 2 pm.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of JD Jones to Alano Hall, 1005 12th Street, Port Royal, SC 29935, or the Lowcountry Hope House.
