James Madison Charles, 80, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.\n\nThe family will be honoring Jim's memory with a reception, which the date and time are pending.\n\nJim was born on November 3, 1937 in Erwin, Tennessee, the youngest of five children to the late Clell and Maxine Charles.\n\nSurvivors include: his wife: Diana; daughter: Pamela (Jan) Turzanski; son: James (Susan) Charles; two granddaughters: Maddy Diane and Jessie Marie; and two great-grandchildren: Lauren and Elijah.\n\nJim graduated from East Tennessee State University and enjoyed a long career in the mirror and glass industry. He served two terms as President of the National Association of Mirror Manufacturers and was a member of the Board of Directors for 10 years. He was also involved in the Glass Association of North America and served on the technical and marketing committees where he was involved in the development of codes and product specifications for glass products as used in the commercial and residential construction markets.\n\nJim loved his family and dogs, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed his many friends.
