Hartford "H.F." F Capps Obituary (2020) - Beaufort, South Carolina

Hartford F. Capps, 84 of Beaufort, SC, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. H.F. was born on September 2, 1936 in Mullins, SC, the son of Hartwell L. and Annie Belle (Coleman) Capps. He later married Patricia Weaver on June 12, 1957 in Beaufort, SC, it was love at first sight for him---he took one glance at her on the basketball court and told his friend "WOW, who's that --I'm going to marry her" and so it was. She passed to her Heavenly home on March 23, 2018. Their dedicated and loving marriage spanned 61 years on this earth resulting in one son: Keith Capps(Sandra); one daughter: Monica Capps; 3 grandchildren: Jody Capps, Jeffrey Ferrell, Mallory Capps(Dee) and 2 great grandchildren: Kobe Allen and Jordan Allen. H.F. also leaves behind 3 siblings; a brother Roger Capps(Janice), sisters Frances King(Buck) and JoAnn Thacker(Darrell). H.F. was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, brother and friend. He was a force, a huge personality and never met a stranger, a champion bowler, Served in the Navy, long career in Civil Service at the Air Station, Beaufort SC and Adak, Alaska, a true Patriot, a Member of the Masonic Lodge and you just had to stop and chat with him at the gate of Grayco, in Beaufort - the part time job he chose, after his full retirement and long career as a Machinist. He loved to dance and always said there's only two kinds of music - "Country" and "Western" and if a good song was playing - you best be ready to "cut a rug" with him. He touched so many lives along his journey--his loving heart and no-nonsense character was evident at your first meet...he will be missed forever more, by his daughter..'daddy's girl-my hero', his son-and best friends, his grands big ol sweet Teddy Bear and his brother and sisters constant-through and through. 'Silent thoughts of times together-Hold memories we will cherish forever" - We love you our Daddy, Grampy and Grpa. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made out to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
