Geraldine E. Brewton, 94, widow of Quinton Brewton, of Beaufort, SC, died Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at her residence.\n\nThe family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 11:00am at The Baptist Church of Beaufort.\n\nFuneral services will follow on Thursday, at 12:30pm in The Baptist Church of Beaufort with interment in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.\n\nMrs. Brewton was born on July 4, 1928 in Glennville, GA. She is the daughter of the late Charles Kinmon Hammock and Essie Mae Odom Hammock.\n\nMrs. Brewton was a member of the Baptist Church of Beaufort for nearly 70 years, where she was one of the founding organizers of the church's daycare center, a longtime member of the Vivian Walsh Mission Group, and longtime Sunday School teacher. She worked in the lunchroom at the Laural Bay School system for many years. She was the cafeteria manager at Mossy Oaks Elementary School. After retiring, she worked part time in the cafeteria at Robert Smalls Middle School. In 2003 she recieved an award from Sodexho, for her many years of dedicated service to Beaufort County School Food Service.\n\nSurviving are one son, Melvin Brewton; one daughter, Lisa B. Seder (Charles); a daughter in law, Linda Brewton; eight grandchildren; Brandy (Christopher) Yates, Russell (Jennifer) Brewton, Michael (Elizabeth) Brewton Jr. Bryan Brewton, Mark Brewton, Ashlee Seder, Charles "Buddy" Seder and Caroline Seder. seven great grandchildren; Maggie Brewton, Brittley Yates, Thomas Brewton, Gracie Brewton, Michael "Mikey" Brewton iii, Colbey Yates and Noah Brewton, and many nieces and nephews.\n\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Michael Brewton Sr., two sisters and five brothers.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Baptist Church of Beaufort, P. O. Box 879, Beaufort, SC 29901.
