Gerald Francis "Killer" Kane, SSGT USMC, Ret., passed away peacefully on the morning of December 7, 2018 at the age of 83.\nBorn June 15, 1935 the eldest child of Harold Thomas "Sonny" and Rose (Maloney) Kane. Gerald graduated from Keith Academy in Lowell, Massachusetts and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Most of his 22 years in the Corps was spent in the Air Wing units at Marine Corps Air Stations at Cherry Point, NC and Beaufort, SC. After his military service, "Killer", as he was known by many, continued to serve his country working on base until his retirement. He was an active member of AMVETS Post 70 in Port Royal and has many friends there. Always ready with a joke, Killer was a friend to many in Beaufort.\n\nPredeceased by his loving wife Flora (Miller) Kane, his brothers John "Jackie" and Harold "Butch" Kane, his son Kerry Kane and step-son William Porter.\n\nLovingly remembered by his brothers Ronald, and Raymond, his sisters Rosemary, Lois and \nEleanor, their spouses and his many nieces and nephews, his children Kevin Kane, Keith Kane, Kelli Kane, Curtis Kane, Michael Kane, his step-children Robert Porter, and Diane Purvis, and their spouses. Killer had numerous grand-children, great-grand children and great-great grandchildren and will be missed by all of them.\nVisitation will be at Anderson Funeral home, 611 Robert Smalls Parkway, Beaufort, on Tuesday, December 18th between the hours of 11:30am and 1:30pm. Interment immediately following at 2pm at the National Cemetery in Beaufort, as he is laid to rest with his "Honey" Flora.
