Gerald Roger Johnson "Jerry" of Beaufort, husband of Peggy Joan Lovell Johnson, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.\n Jerry, 77, was born in Vineland, New Jersey on August 24, 1941, son of the late Stanley and Doris Johnson. He attended Western Maryland College and was in the National Guard. For over 30 years, Jerry was employed by South Jersey Glass Company as an estimator. While actively involved with the Youth Ministry and choir at Christ Community Church of Newfield, Jerry demonstrated his strong love of the Lord.\n Later moving to South Carolina in 1994, Jerry became involved with Community Bible Church in Beaufort and enjoyed working with the Food Pantry. Wood working and gardening was his hobby and he enjoyed making projects for his grandchildren.\n He will be greatly missed by all. Jerry is survived by his beautiful, loving wife of 54 years, Peggy. Also, remembering his two daughters, Kimberly Larossa (Ernie) and Wendy Clark (Eric). Jerry was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Katelyn Larossa, Devin Clark, Cassidy Clark, Hailey Larossa, and Ryan Larossa.\n A memorial service will be held Saturday November 17, 2018 from 12 noon until 1 PM at Community Bible Church with a reception to follow. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until noon prior to the service.\n In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to the food pantry at Community Bible Church, 638 Parris Island Gateway, Beaufort.
