(Gene and Maxine Trimmier) Gene Romaine Trimmier (June 27, 1931-March 11, 2016) Gene Romaine Trimmier was born in Charlotte NC in 1931 to Francis Knowlton Trimmier Sr. and Maebelle Hatley Trimmier. Gene and his family moved to the Beaufort area, along with his brother Frank's and sister Terry's families to open and operate Trimmier Chevrolet (now Butler Chrysler) in the late 1960's. He worked at the dealership several years as the Service and Body Shop Manager, mentoring many technicians during his tenure there. Prior to this he was the Service Manager at City Chevrolet in Charlotte NC. Gene owned and operated GT Tire and Muffler Center at 3 locations in Beaufort SC after leaving Trimmier Chevrolet. Retiring from his civilian career in 1988, he then again partnered with his brother Frank to bring the Yellow Cab Franchise back to Beaufort, where it still successfully operates under its current owners.\n Gene was a long standing member of the United States Air Force and the North Carolina Air National Guard, currently the 164th Airlift Wing in Charlotte NC. After relocating to Beaufort, he then transferred to the Georgia Air National Guard, currently the 165 Airlift Wing in Savannah Ga. His military career as an Aircraft Mechanic and Flight Engineer on several aircraft platforms spanned almost 40 years He retired from military service in 1991 as a Master Sergeant with well over 7,500 hours of flight time. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at Bayview Manor in Spanish Point while recovering from a recent hip surgery. He is predeceased by his wife Maxine Lavon Jenkins Trimmier from King's Mountain NC, his brother Francis Knowlton "Frank" Trimmier Jr, and his sister Thelda Mae Todd, also of Charlotte NC. He is survived by his son Michael Romaine Trimmier Sr, daughter-in-law Jennifer Joan Trimmier, a grandson Michael Romaine Trimmier Jr, all from Beaufort SC, a granddaughter Erica Lashae Joyner and two great granddaughters Julia Catherine Joyner and Sarah Elizabeth Joyner, all from Macon Ga. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 5-7 PM at Anderson Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 at 1 PM at Carl W. Anderson Memorial Chapel. Mr. Trimmier will be laid to rest in the Beaufort National Cemetery where his wife and brother and are currently interred. He was 84 years old. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to your local charities in his name.
