Ellen Marie Reardon, a smart, talented, dedicated, and reliable woman, passed away on May 18, 2023, at the age of 86. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on July 29, 1936, to Margaret and Vincent Reardon, Ellen was a trailblazer in her own right. As the first female underwriter for Royal Globe Insurance Company in New York City, and the first woman to obtain her CPCU (Chartered Property Commercial Underwriter), she was a shining example of determination and success.\n\nEllen's passion for life was evident in both her professional and personal pursuits. She owned and operated the Reardon Insurance Agency in Lexington, Massachusetts until her retirement in 2006. As an avid traveler and sports enthusiast, she enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, golf, and bridge. Ellen's dedication to women's rights and success was a driving force in her life, and she remained committed to these values throughout her years. She resided in Okatie, South Carolina, having previously lived in Lexington, Massachusetts and Naples, Florida. Ellen also shared a loving 23-year relationship with her partner, Frank Murphy.\n\nEllen is survived by her sister, Sally Calamese; partner, Frank Murphy; nieces Tanya (Paul) Vecchione and Tina (Adrian) Robinson; great-nephews Dani Vecchione and Owen Robinson; and was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Vincent Reardon; brother-in-law Eddie Calamese; and sister Nancy Sargeant.
