Dixie Fender Pinckney, 95 of Beaufort, SC entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at The Retreat at Lady's Island.\nGraveside Services will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 1:30 pm. at The St. Helena Episcopal Cemetery in Beaufort.\nDixie was born on March 18, 1924 in Walterboro, SC, the daughter of Thayer "Jake" Buell and Annie (Price) Fender. Her family moved to Beaufort when she was 3 years old. Dixie was baptized at The Baptist Church of Beaufort and graduated from Beaufort High School.\nShe is preceded in death by her beloved husband, of 58 years, James P. Pinckney III. He passed away in November, 2003. Her sister, Dimples Fender Bailey also precedes. During Dixie and James's 58 years of marriage, they enjoyed raising their family, boating, camping, and traveling.\nSurvivors include: her daughters: Katherine Ann (Don) Vishy; Lynn Pinckney (Norman) Jones; Connie Pinckney (Bill) Chambers; grandchildren: Patrick Vishy; Meaghan Gates; Amy Faulkner; Ashley Taylor; Shae Helms; Anne and Laura Chambers; great-grandchildren: James and George Gates; Alexandra and Harper Faulkner; Taylor Wingler; and Roscoe and Reed Helms. Brother and sisters in-law, and numerous, nieces and nephews also survive.\nDixie would often tell visitors on Bay Street about, "Beautiful Beaufort by the Sea, 26 miles from Yemassee." she felt blessed, and proud, to live in such a beautiful location. Her family wishes to thank MSA Hospice, and all of her many caregivers who made her life better with the attention, and care, they provided over the last three years.\nIn lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made out to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation 17901 Hunting Bow Cir #102, Lutz, FL 33558.
