Daniel Brackin Lambert, Sr., 82, husband of Hollis "Holly" Kearns Lambert, of Beaufort, SC, passed Sunday, September 10, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Lambert was born on August 3, 1941 in Bessemer, Ala. He is the son of the late Dick Lambert and Faye Jones Lambert. At the age of five, his family moved to Oakridge, Tennessee where he resided until joining the US Navy in 1958. He served on the USS Furse as Sonarman Third Class and was stationed at her homeport of Charleston, SC. Upon his honorable discharge, Dan stayed in Charleston where he met and married his first wife, Rebie McLemore, and had two daughters, Dana and Catherine. In 1986, he met Holly and they were married in 1989. The couple soon welcomed son Daniel Brackin, Jr. into their family, followed by daughter, Grayson Hollis, two years later. After living in Little Rock, AR, then Atlanta, GA, the family settled down in Beaufort, SC in 2001.
Early on in his adult years, Daniel was co-owner of a successful real estate business, Lambert & O'Shaughnessy Realty Company. However, he was drawn to the mortgage banking business and followed that career path for 40+ years, working his last fifteen years with Greystone Servicing Corporation. Throughout those years he formed many friendships that lasted through his lifetime. During his 30 years in Charleston, Dan was very involved in the community. He was the President of Jaycee’s and was given several local and state awards.
For those who knew him well, knew Dan lived for the next round of golf. He was a member of the Country Club of Charleston for 25 years and was instrumental in rebuilding the club after Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Once he moved to Beaufort he joined Cat Island Country Club and often played at The Legends At Parris Island. In addition to playing golf, Daniel was also an avid fisherman and boater. Known as "Captain Dan", he loved nothing more than grabbing his shrimp net, rod and reel, and adult beverage to head out for an adventurous day on the river with his black lab, Bella.
Daniel B. was larger than life. Known for his big smile and baby blues, his charismatic personality, witty humor, and impressive work ethic were just a few reasons why people were drawn to him. To his family his stories were legendary; always captivating his audience, young and old. Whether it was true or embellished, Dan the man kept them laughing. He loved God, he loved his family, and he loved his friends and will be missed by all those who knew him.
