Clifford Earl King, Sr. of Beaufort, SC, passed into the care of the Lord on the morning of Saturday, January 21, 2023, in the comfort of hospice after an extended illness. He was 69 years old.\n\nThe middle son of Edward King and Eula Mae Todd, Clifford was born in Port Saint Joe, Florida, on July 21, 1953. He is survived by his wife, Joy McCall King of Beaufort; sons, Joshua (Katelyn) King and Clifford King, Jr.; siblings David (Patricia) King, Deborah Hall, and Don (Valerie) King; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Edna Carol Hevner.\n\nClifford was an animated story teller who never met a stranger. After serving a short time in the Marine Corps, he worked various careers as a truck driver and operator, restaurant manager, salesman, and more, always noticing the fascinating details of the people he encountered and never forgetting a face. He loved traveling with his wife, traversing the country to visit national parks and participate in Retail Confectioners International conferences.\n\nThe family will receive friends on Thursday, January 26th, from 6-8pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Memorial services for family and friends will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 30th, at the Beaufort National Cemetery on Boundary Street.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Caroline Hospice, or the Dennis R. Witzel Chocolate Boot Camp Scholarship.
