Caroline Talmage Sloan passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023 after a brief illness. \n\nCaroline was pre-deceased by her husband of 53 years Robert Norris Sloan in 2015. \n\nBorn in New York City to Edyth Elliman and Prentice Talmage, and raised in Lawrence, NY. Caroline attended Lawrence Country Day School, Foxhollow School and Briarcliff College. Upon graduation she joined the faculty of the Town School in New York City. Married June 23, 1962, Bobby and Caroline raised their three sons in Lawrence, NY. Caroline served on the Board of Trustees of Lawrence County Day School and dedicated much time to school support activities including the co-founding of "Christmas Capers", a holiday boutique benefiting Lawrence School. She was a competitive tennis player at the Rockaway Hunting Club, avid sun worshiper at the Lawrence Beach Club, and occasional second mate on their sailboat “Bomba” at the Cedarhurst Yacht Club. Bobby and Caroline move briefly to Goshen, CT in 1984 prior to settling in Beaufort, SC in 1987. Caroline enjoyed playing tennis and bridge into the later years of her life. \n\nShe is survived by her three sons: Robert, (Michele), Prentice Elliman (Jane), Lockwood Talmage and six\ngrandchildren; Emily, John Prentice, Peter, Meredith, Parker and Lily. \n\nCaroline was pre-deceased by her parents, brothers Prentice Talmage, Jr., and John F. Talmage and sister Rev. Edyth K. Baker and grandson, Robert III.\n\n A service will be held at Trinity St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hewlett, NY at a later date.
