Beverly Slane

Beverly (Betty) Pender Slane, 98, originally of NJ, passed away on May 26, 2025 at Canterfield Assisted Living in Okatie, SC.

Daughter of the late Hazel and William Pender. Betty resided in Madison, NJ where she and her husband, Bob, raised their seven children, later residing in East Stroudsburg, PA and Tequesta, FL. She graduated from College of NJ, formerly Trenton State College, with a degree in Elementary Education. While she only taught for a few years, leaving to raise her children, she later earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and spent a number of years teaching preschoolers.

Known by family and friends for her chocolate chip cookies and hand knitted Christmas stockings, she made friends easily and maintained many lifelong friendships.

She is predeceased by her husband Robert J. Slane, daughter Megan McLeod, brother William Pender and sister Jean Perrine

She is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Price of South Plainfield, NJ and Eileen Hennigan of Brick, NJ; six living children: Mark Slane (Cindy), Kathleen Gensheimer, Mary Beth Horan (Kevin), Maureen Sanchelli (Billy), Christopher Slane and Matthew Slane (Susan); 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and friends.

A Mass will be heard at her beloved, St. Vincent the Martyr Church on Saturday, august 23, 2025 at 9:30 AM. The church is located at 26 Green Village Rd in Madison, New Jersey.
