Adda Elizabeth Nelson Obituary (1937 - 2023)

Adda Elizabeth “Doots” Nelson, 86, of Bluffton, SC, passed away on February 12, 2023 at her residence with family by her side. Born February 10, 1937 in Front Royal, VA, she was the daughter of the late Callie Amos Sours, Jr. and Florence Oleta Watts Sours. Elizabeth is survived by one son, Barry Nelson and one daughter, Amy Nelson both of Bluffton, SC; one niece in California and one granddaughter, Callie Nelson of Maryland. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gordon Leigh Nelson and one son, Gordon Scott Nelson. Elizabeth received B.S. in Occupational Therapy from Richmond Professional Institute College of William & Mary. She received a master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh and also completed postgraduate studies at West Virginia University. Elizabeth enjoyed traveling, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards and watching NFL football especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Honoring her request, she will be laid to rest with her late husband in Virginia.
